SEBACEOUS GLAND

Generally attached to a hair, this gland secretes sebum.

SWEAT GLAND

Located in the dermis, this gland excretes sweat through a pore on the skin's surface by means of a channel.

SUNPROTECTION

Action of protecting against solar radiation.

SEBUM

Essentially consisting of lipids, this substance is secreted by the sebaceous glands.

SCALES

Small dry flakes of epidermis which detach from the surface of the skin (e.g. dandruff).
