Use gentle non-drying soaps and ceramide-containing moisturisers to soothe and repair your skin. Applying a moisturiser which has been pre-cooled in the fridge does provide itch-relief and helps to minimise scratching! Do consult your dermatologist who can provide effective treatment for eczema, as it is important to reduce the skin inflammation before healing can take place.

My top tips for relieving very dry, irritated skin are:
- Moisturise, moisturise, moisturise! Apply a moisturiser at least 2 times a day (more if needed).
- Choose a good moisturiser. Look for hypoallergenic, fragrance-free and paraben-free moisturisers.
- Don’t spend too long in the shower! Short showers of 5-10 mins are recommended, anything longer will further dry out your skin.
- Use a gentle, non-foaming soap as it is less likely to dry out your skin.
