The outermost layer of the epidermis, it is made of a variable number of rows of completely flattened cells or corneocytes that form stacked lamellae that then separate. It protects the skin.


Made of water, sebum and mineral and organic compounds from the epidermis or the sweat and sebaceous glands, this emulsion moisturises the horny layer while insulating it and protecting it from the environment.


Excessive sebum production by the sebaceous glands.


Located under the dermis, this is the deepest part of the skin. It is rich in fatty tissue. The hypodermis acts as an energy reserve and as padding from mechanical shocks.
